Ready for Spring

I don't know about y'all but we are more than ready for spring around here!  Not just because of the weather but the cute boots over your skinny jeans has ran it's course and we're ready for a change in our wardrobe.  Not to mention last week we had a few days of 70 degree weather so it was a HUGE tease!  We've been checking out pinterest lately for some inspiration on some cute looks for spring and here's some that we've found.

How cute are these? TOM flats

Love the splash of yellow!

It's rainy and cloudy today but by the end of the week we're looking at 70 degree weather so looks like spring will hopefully be here before we know it!
Happy Monday y'all!

Saturday

Well it's Saturday and we're just taking it easy!! This is going to be a bunch of randomness so please excuse me!  Thursday and yesterday the weather was in the 70's and as the day went on yesterday we had tornado watches and the wind got a little crazy.  This morning we woke to the temps being in the 40's.  Crazy crazy weather....makes we even more impatient with Spring!

On another note we got Addison's new bed moved into her room and as a bonus last night Nick and I went to Target to get her some new sheets and we ended up getting her new bedding there.  I was holding out for a set I wanted from Pottery Barn but this girl is tough on her things and I just couldn't justify spending the money when lord knows she would have spilt something on it within the first week!  Once I completely finish her room this week I'll put up some before and after picks.

Alright gonna enjoy this lazy Saturday, hope y'all do too!!

Oh and P.S. Jonahs EB Auction started last night, so head on over!!

It's Here!!!

If you remember Jonah's EB Auction that we talked about last week....well it's finally here!!  Today at 8 pm the bidding starts! They've got so many awesome things up for bid from jewelry to gift cards and things for kids.  Help a great cause and head on over by clicking HERE and the top portion is where you need to read to get an idea of how to bid and all that stuff.  Also if you wanna be really sweet we've put a gift card up for auction for Starbuck's HERE .  Now who can ever get enough of Starbuck's, definatley not me!! So head over at 8pm and start bidding for a great cause!!

On another note my little Miss Addison is getting so big we decided it was time to get her out of the toddler bed and upgrade to a "big girl" bed.  Well I found the greatest deal on not just a twin bed but it also came with a matching nightstand that matches the dresser we already had!! I don't know about y'all but I get really excited when I find a great deal.  For the nightstand and the bed the lady was asking $100 and when I arrived there she asked if we needed a box spring and it was practically new and she didn't have any room so she just gave that to us for free!! I couldn't pass it up because well it was FREE.  Our plan is to re-do her room tomorrow night while she's gone and surprise her with a "new room" when she comes home Saturday.  I can't wait is an understatement!!  Once we get everything situated this weekend I'd love to post some pictures of her new big girl room!

That's it for today!  Erica's spending the weekend with her hubby at the beach and I'm getting a date night with my hubby while the kids spend the night with their Mamaw and Papaw.  What's your plans for the weekend?

Happy Friday!

Running

Well, it's been two weeks since the last time we ran and we've hit a wall AGAIN!!  We have a love/hate relationship with good ol' running and while we want to run on the other hand we don't want to.  Does that make sense?  We got into it last year and stayed pretty dedicated through the summer with some downs but mostly ups.  We were seeing our times increasing so we were encouraged and pumped to keep going but then came the early nights and that's our running time....and we just stopped.  Since mmmm probably December we'll text or call each and say things like "ok we are so running on this and that day and there's no getting out of it."  Well that day will come and go and we'll "pretend" like we forget about it and bring it up the next day.....y'all ever do that about stuff you don't wanna do?  Yeah evidentally we do! :)

So when we srtarted last year we used the Couch25k app on our phones and we loved it so we're gonna start fresh and see if that doesn't get us motivated.  When we first started running we could barely make the first day.  Seriously the running is for like 30 seconds and we were huffing and puffing by the time we were done.....BUT with every week the running time would increase and we would have a hard time at first but it would slowly get easier.  This is where we found our motivation!

To go from barely running 30 seconds to running the full 30 minutes just makes you feel so good about yourself and overall we felt good about our bodies.  Last summer when going to the beach we hadn't toned up nowhere near as much as we wanted but we rocked our bikinis AND felt like we looked awesome because afterall we were "runners".  So here we are again.  It's almost March already (can you believe it) and we're gonna try our best to get back to being as excited about running this year as we were last year.  We're gonna start fresh next week and this time no backing out.  We're gonna keep record of our progress on here to keep accountable, so we shall see.

These pictures below were from our first 5k last year and just looking at these makes us wanna get back at it because we felt pretty darn good that we were able to do.....now we're not saying we didn't stop a few times, feel like we were going to throw up or just down right wanna give up but we finished and NOT last so that's all that matters right!?!

This is Erica, Amanda, Patrice and Aletha before the race.

Everyone needs a picture of their running shoes!

This is the after! Not too bad to have just ran our firt 5k we don't think.

So here's to running y'all!

Snow!

As much as I hate the snow, for the kid's sake I was secretly hoping it would....atleast just a little bit.  Plus if you're from the South you know that even a little bit of snow is a big deal.  I mean yesterday when the news was forcasting the snow everyone went crazy running to the stores for their milk and bread.....no joke we had to run to store for regular grocery stuff and you would've thought they were predicting a blizzard here!!  Oh well, we didn't get much but it was enough to get the kids excited and was pretty to wake up to!  Stay warm my friends, it's a blizzard out there!:)
This was my oldest, Aiden checking out the snow last night.

I felt so bad but I had to catch this! Aiden pushed her face first into the snow and as you see he's acting as if nothing ever happened.

But then they made up and all was right with the world!

Happy Monday y'all!

Party Time

Yesterday was Kingstin's party and  his acutual birthday. It was a PERFECT day for a party, it was in the mid 60's here and both boys were in great moods. I got to spend the afternoon with just Miller, we had a few last min things to get done before the party, it was so nice to spend that time with my crazy oldest. After picking up the balloons, cakes and the birthday boy was up from his nap, it was PARTY TIME!

Homeboy didn't like the cake

this next picture, Aletha is going to kill me :)

Thank you to everyone that made yesterday special! We love you all so much!!

Part 2 of Kingstin's Birth Story

(If you missed part 1 go HERE to get caught up )

After telling my husband as we sat at a stop light that I felt the urge to push, he didn't wait around he ran the red light and grabbed my hand. I can remember him looking over at me and me telling him that I couldn't hold on any longer!

We pulled up to the hospital And I instructed Mitch to let me out and go park the car! I was able to walk to the elevator, the doors opened and I stepped on but before the doors could close I hit the floor (yes I know that nasty elevator, but what's a girl to do?) The doors opened for me to get off and I continued to crawl to the nurse sitting at the desk! I was crying so hard and telling her I have to push! By that time Mitch was there! They rushed me to a "holding room" as I got somewhat on my bed, a nurse checked me and her eyes where huge, Baby King was coming very soon! She stuck her head out the curtain and yelled some kind of nurse code and a few came running and before I knew it I was in the delivery room... it all was just happening to fast!

Now rewind during the drive there and the crawling in the nasty hospital floor my mom had picked my grandmother up and called our a friend Rhonda that attends church with us, she works in the Labor and Delivery unit in our local hospital and they where there by the time I was put in the room, and man was that one of the best sights a girl could have ever seen!

Ok fast forward! I was laying on my side screaming at the top of my lungs... yes I was the chick that everyone sees in the movies, cussing, sweating and lots of yelling but Rhonda was so calming. She just has this peace over her and God has given that women a gift to be able to share with women, and i thank God everyday for her being able to share that special day with us! She was able to get me calm enough to breath. I kept looking at her with tear filled eyes and telling her there was no way I could do with without any drugs! I had just been told that it was to late to get a epidural and she would rub my head and hold my hand and tell me that she knew I could do it and I was going to do it! She is awesome! Thanks again Rhonda!

I had to wait for an hour for my doctor to get there to deliver (ha ha just kidding maybe 5mins but it felt like an hour). My water was still attached and I was a full 10 cm and ready to push but no nurses were able to deliver unless my water broke! They called in a back up Doctor just in case my Doctor didn't make it! As the back up doctor was putting all his gear on, in walks my Doctor (another amazing site). He asked me if I was ready, not sure what my answer was but I'm pretty sure it was "Hell yes" and I'm not even someone to cuss!

(Sorry if this is TMI) I rolled over and put my legs up and there went my water all over everyone along my bed side ( love you Mitch) and two big pushes and poof he was out!

My beautiful baby boy was here! I was at the hospital for a total of 25 mins before he was born, no epidural, no pain meds nothing, that was major pain but majorly worth it!

When they laid that little baby on my bear chest it was just a good feeling! You forget the pain and just fall in love all over again!

Miller was so excited to meet his baby brother! I was a little scared that he would have some kind of adjustment issues but he didn't, he is by far the most caring, most loving and most protective big brother I know!

Kingstin's Birth Story

My baby boy will be 1 this Saturday and this is his birth story! Sorry if it's long but I had to write down the most important parts so one day I can look back and have that wonderful memory! (this is part one) Enjoy :)

It was a sad Saturday, my family and I had to say goodbye to my great Uncle Jimmy. While sitting  through the funeral I remember thinking to myself "something just don't feel right."  I wrote it off as being 30 weeks pregnant, tired after running around getting Miller to my friend Lindsey's house and emotionally drained. We kissed our friends and family goodbye as we jumped in our car to follow behind the hearse to the hour away drive to the Smith Family Graveyard. All I could think about was I wanted to get home and go to bed.

The rest of the afternoon/night I kept feeling what I thought were "branxton hicks". Around 7 that night I decided to call the on call nurse. She advised me to head right to the hospital. I got there and was hooked up to monitors to find out I was in labor, I had contractions 5-7 mins apart! We spent many hours laying on that hard bed, but with the help of amazing medicine and a wonderful Doctor we were able to get the contractions under control.
For the next 8 weeks we took it easy and stayed in close contact with the doctor.

Almost exactly 8 weeks to the day, we where getting our oldest son Miller ready for bed when I told Mitch I thought we should go to the hospital! I had contractions all day that day and was just scared to wait since we had already been to the hospital once and Miller came pretty fast! We loaded Miller up, dropped him off with my dad and Mitch, my mom, grandmother and myself headed to the hospital!

Now if you would told me that when it was a full moon women really do go into labor I would have told you that was a crock of crap :) BUT it was a full moon and let me tell you they had women sitting in the waiting room waiting for a bed! I finally was placed in a "holding" room hooked up to monitors and told I was only dilated to 3 and my contractions where bouncing from 20 mins apart to 7 mins apart! We where instructed to walk the halls and come back in one hour! After walking I was checked again with not much progress. We where given the choice to stay there and walk or go home and walk the mall and get rest, and come back when my contractions where 3-5 mins apart,we choose to go home!

Being the wonderful wife I am we went home to sleep for a little then headed to the golf course to "bump" this baby out :) After the golf course we went to walk the mall then headed to get Miller from daycare.

All day my contractions were 15-20 mins apart maybe 10 min here and there! Around 7:00 that night (still 10- 20 mins apart) each time I had a contraction I would HIT the floor, bent over double, horrible pain. Mitch kept telling me we should go to the hospital and me being the stubborn person I am kept telling him NO they are not 3-5 mins apart yet! Meanwhile my mom had been calling off and on to check on me, but this time when she called she called at the exact same time I had my longest most painful contraction yet, she advised Mitch to not listen to me and not listen to the Dr. but to grab Miller and put my butt in the car!

While driving to my parents I can remember praying to God "Dear God if I can just make it to my parents house and let Miller out so I can scream to the top of my lungs." I had done so good playing it cool that I didn't want to let loose in front of him now! My dad met us in the drive way and my mom had already left to get my grandmother! Backing out of the driven way I looked at Mitch and said "I can't hold it in anymore I have to scream" so scream I did, for a mile or so! We got to a red light and I looked at him and said it again "honey I can't hold it in anymore" his reply was "baby it's ok scream!" my fast response was "NO I really can't hold it in anymore I have to push"!!!
